Directors
| Jackie Roberts |
Jackie has been a Director since 2002 and Chairman since 2005. A self-employed HR Consultant, she has been responsible for HR matters throughout her time on the Board. She is also a member of the CC Bell Restoration Committee. Jackie has been a subscriber to The Ringing World since her first quarter peal was published, and her astonishment and delight that such a publication could exist and thrive has not lessened since the day she first discovered it. |
| Bill Hibbert |
Bill has been a bell ringer for over 40 years and is an honorary member of the Central Council. He has worked for many years for magazine and newspaper publishers and has considerable knowledge of publishing and IT systems, and website implementation. His primary interest in bell ringing is the sound and acoustics of bells, which he has been investigating for 15 years. He has recently been awarded a doctorate by the Open University for his research. |
| Fred Bone |
Fred is the RW’s IT Director, responsible for office systems and the website. He joined the Board in 2002 and was last re-elected in 2009. Fred took early retirement after a career in IT, specialising in bibliographic cataloguing and information retrieval systems. He now does voluntary work as an Adviser (and spare-time IT support!) with Citizens Advice Bureau. |
| Chris Rogers |
Chris is the Finance Director of The Ringing World. He is responsible for preparing the Company’s annual budgets and accounts and for monitoring income and expenditure. He is a former Secretary of the Central Council of Church Bell ringers and is a member of the companies of ringers at Guildford Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. |
| Phil Watts |
Phil joined the Board in 2005. As Sales and Marketing Director, he leads for the Board on all matters related to maintaining and increasing sales of the Ringing World and the company's other products, and with promoting the Brand and reputation of the Ringing World Ltd. Apart from his involvement in the Ringing World and his "day job" at Ordnance Survey, Phil is also Diocesan Bells Advisor for the Diocese of Winchester and a member of the Winchester DAC. He is an active member of his local Church (1 bell at the moment!) and rings at St Nicolas North Stoneham. |
| Peter Davies |
Peter joined the board in 2008. His responsibilities include the Diary, Calendar, preparations for the Ringing World’s participation at Roadshow 2008 and arrangements for celebrating The Ringing World Centenary in 2011. Peter is retired, having spent his entire career in energy, embracing all forms of electricity generation including wind, wave, tide, hydro, oil, gas, fusion and nuclear, retiring in 2003 as consultant to British Energy in public relations and communications. He is Ringing Master at Wantage, Oxfordshire and his Oxford Diocesan Guild posts include Public Relations Officer, Trustee of the Bell Fund, member of the Towers and Belfries Committee and Newsletter Editor and Web Site Manager of the Old North Berks Branch. |
| Ian Oram (Company Secretary) |
Ian prepares the agenda for the Board Meetings and takes the Minutes; he is responsible for the Annual Returns to the Charity Commission and Companies House. Ian is also Honorary Secretary of the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers, but is looking forward to standing down in 2009, to have more time to enjoy his retirement. |
