The Whitechapel Bell Foundry will be open to visitors on the Ringing World Centenary Celebration Day on 26th March. The doors will open at 8.30am. and last admissions will be at 1pm to allow enough time for visitors to complete their visit and travel to Westminster Abbey for the 3pm Service and the Centenary Tea at Central Hall.

This is not just a visit to a factory, on your tour you will follow in the footsteps of Royalty, take a trip into bell history, see displays of the making of tower bells and their fittings, small bells and handbells. Our gift shop will be open and specially for this day children will be welcome!

In order to accommodate the number who may wish to visit, the narrow stair case access to the handbell and carpenters’ workshops which are usually part of our guided tours will not be open on that day, and an exhibit of these skills is therefore being mounted at ground floor level.

Following approval of this plan by our insurers, we are pleased to announce that we have been able make special provision on the day to welcome families with children, and our usual age restriction preventing under-14s access into the manufacturing area will be lifted on the Centenary Day only.
