Since 1911, The Ringing World has been the weekly journal of bellringing – the messenger of an art practised in towers across Britain and around the world. It gave its name to the charity that now publishes it, so “The Ringing World” means both the magazine and the organisation behind it.
In an age of feeds and fragments, we publish a magazine full of edited articles and photos, every week, on paper and digitally. The RW carries news, community stories, features, opinions, histories, technical articles and the records of worldwide bellringing performances: a continuing account of ringing as it is practised, discussed and developed.
The magazine is produced by a small professional team, but its pages are created by a much larger community. Volunteer correspondents, photographers, historians, experts and enthusiasts contribute from towers and ringing communities around the world.
That makes it more than a publication. It is a meeting place for ringers: somewhere to exchange ideas, celebrate achievements, debate difficult questions and remain connected with a community that stretches far beyond any one tower or association.
For over a century, ringing’s achievements, debates, and characters have been set down in our pages. Our archive is the single richest record of ringing that exists – a living heritage collection.
But we don’t only record ringing; we drive it. The Ringing World gives new ideas a hearing, shares knowledge, encourages learning, supports campaigns and projects, and provides a platform for the people shaping ringing’s future.
Our Christmas cards and gifts are on sale now, including 2027 calendars and diaries, and other new products.
