Every week The Ringing World prints records of hundreds of bellringing performances from around the world. Each one records who rang, what they rang, where, and often why: a wedding, an anniversary, a first peal, a memorial, or just the pleasure of ringing.
Taken together, they are a detailed and continuous record of a living performance tradition. Anyone researching a tower, a band or a ringer’s career will find it an unmatched source.
Most of the performances we print are peals or quarter peals.
Both are feats of concentration, skill and teamwork. For many ringers, their first quarter peal or first peal is a milestone they remember for life. And many ringers continue to ring more quarter peals or peals, for marking special events or to hone their skill.
The Ringing World used to be the journal of record for peals, containing printed details of all new peals rung. Some people are happy with the digital record on BellBoard. However, most ringers still choose to have their performances printed, both as a durable record and as a celebration of what the band achieved.
Performances are submitted through BellBoard, The Ringing World’s online database of ringing performances. Everything printed in The Ringing World also appears on BellBoard.
Please note that having submitted the details of your performance, you may need to go back to it to:
The Ringing World is very grateful for donations submitted with performance records. A small donation from each ringer makes a big difference to our budget.
Our Christmas cards and gifts are on sale now, including 2027 calendars and diaries, and other new products.
Performances submitted for print by the end of Saturday are typeset and proofread during the following week, and we aim to include them in the next Friday’s issue. Busy weeks can sometimes cause a short delay.
Make sure you pressed Send to print on BellBoard. A performance that’s on BellBoard but hasn’t been sent to print won’t reach us for publication. Click here to read the BellBoard help FAQ.
