About the Ringing World

The Ringing World is a weekly magazine produced by ringers, for ringers, about ringers and ringing. Each issue normally comprises 24 pages, with at least 4 in colour. Edited by an active ringer, it contains articles, advice, reports, training material, notices of ringing events and many other items of interest.

It also contains the definitive and authoritative record of peals rung throughout the globe.

The Ringing World Ltd is both a limited company and a registered charity, operating from offices in Andover, Hampshire. Our staff consist of a board of directors who act as the trustees of the charity, and also a small number of paid employees.

In addition to the magazine, The Ringing World Ltd also produces The Ringing World diary and calendar, along with other occasional publications that may be of interest to the ringing community. But above all we strive to be first choice for must-have information about ringers and ringing.

The Ringing World’s unique position within the ringing community allows it to act as a permanent address for the Central Council and also the first point of contact for many media (and other) enquiries about bells, bell ringing and ringers.

William Bosworth (Editor)

Will has been Editor of The Ringing World since November 2019, succeeding Robert Lewis after his nineteen years in the chair. Will learnt to ring in Dorset as a child, did too much during his time as a student in Birmingham, and rang with the band at Great St Mary’s in Cambridge during his time there as a doctoral student. He now lives in Peterborough, where he sings in the Cathedral Choir.

He joined the Ringing World team as Editorial Assistant in 2016, gaining experience in all aspects of the company and preparing the journal’s content, along with the occasional writing assignment.

Trisha Shannon (Editorial Assistant)

Trisha joined the Ringing World as Editorial Assistant in 2022 following several years working for and around the Church of England and the Anglican Communion. Born in Canada, she learned to ring in Cape Town, where a small but dedicated band keeps the Cathedral bells going and always welcomes visitors from abroad. While in South Africa, Trisha was involved in the early days of online news reporting, as well as working in traditional print magazine and book publishing. She lives in South London and still welcomes visitors to quite a few local towers.

Jo L and Jacky K (Administration and Marketing)

Jo and Jacky are the first point of contact in the office, dealing with queries relating to subscriptions, BellBoard, advertising and notices plus any shop orders or queries. Having worked in the publishing industry from the age of 18 and as Editor of her school magazine, Jo has always had a love for media. With her husband she raises two children and a dog who all enjoy campervan holidays and long dog walks in the countryside. Jacky enjoys babysitting her five grandchildren, supports Chelsea and is Elvis Presley’s greatest fan.

Christine H (Accounts Assistant)

Christine coordinates and oversees all aspects of the accounting process at The Ringing World on a part-time basis. Whilst juggling life as a busy working Mum, she occasionally finds the luxury of spare time to indulge her enthusiasm for gardening and following country pursuits.

Sam W (Digital Assistant)

Sam started work with us in July 2020 as a web developer. As well as recording performances, our BellBoard site is an increasingly important communication tool, and also hosts some of the vital administrative functions of the company. Sam studies Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as part of a Natural Sciences degree at Durham University. He learnt to ring in 2018 at university and also enjoys virtual Air Traffic Control on the VATSIM network as well as tinkering with his home server.
